The past few weeks have produced some larger bass in the mid 30 pound range with the occasional 40+ mixed in. School stripers have started their blitzing mid day and well into the late afternoon. Blues have also found their summer home! Black Sea bass have been huge this year and make great action, even while waiting for the striper bite. We have carried gear to cover each species in case one decided not to play nice in the sand box.
As we approach the end of July, we start to look offshore for some tuna and begin our evening trips to Block Island. While tuna are unpredictable, having days of not seeing much to seeing endless miles of birds, whales and bait, it still is a great trip to the patient angler. Block Island trips are made for those that seek higher quality fish versus numbers. We try to target trophy stripers and hopefully, releasing those that don’t meet that criteria!
As you plan your summer trips, keep these locations in mind! Good luck and tight lines,
